VoIP aware network monitoring

With the network released from the burden of proof and the applications taken care of (via the Advanced MPLS AppsIntegrity Package (SKU 01849), the network manager can concentrate on providing detailed analysis to the VoIP teams showing them the real time call by call MoS scores at the remote locations that are affecting end users. Faster time to resolution is provided without having to open unnecessary network troubleshooting tickets.


Proactive VoIP SNMP traps automatically identify when Average VoIP LQ MoS Scores drop below a set value, when Concurrent VoIP Calls exceed the planned site capacity, when too many New VoIP Calls occur at a site, or if too many Poor Quality VoIP Calls occur at a site. These events can be forwarded to the VoIP team allowing for quick isolation and troubleshooting to occur.

Automatic trending of your site Call Quality Metrics allow for quick identification of call quality, concurrent call volume growth, round trip delay, jitter, network packet loss, and jitter packet discards allowing the VoIP team to tweak their settings for each remote site and baseline their performance.

In addition, to supporting the VoIP infrastructure, the application infrastructure from a network perspective, end user remote calls are monitored in real time and back end time.

When a bad MoS score occurs, the Call Details can be generated with a click on the hyperlink and compared to the Call Manager records. Being able to go back in time, to see the Call Details allow the VoIP team to see the bad call and compare the Network, Applications, CoS, and end to end round trip times quickly and efficiently from a single VoIP aware network monitoring solution.


Traffic Capture

The "Advanced" portion of the software allows for packet capture to be utilized in real time as needed to support the VoIP team at all remote locations. Once an application, a server, a VLAN, or a subnet has been isolated utilizing the proactive performance events, and reviewed for patterns over the last two weeks with back-in-time, a capture can be triggered or filtered on, for advanced troubleshooting analysis. Whether you want to isolate on the IP address of a phone to see all the call traffic, or on an application, or on a server supporting a service, the packets will always be available to you when you troubleshooting to root cause.
